The science museum field has made tremendous advances in understanding museum learning, but little has been done to consolidate and synethesize these findings to encourage widespread improvements in practice. By clearly presenting the most current knowledge of museum learning, In Principle, In Practice aims to promote effective programs and exhibitions, identify promising approaches for future research, and develop strategies for implementing and sustaining connections between research and practice in the museum community.

This overview of the role played by the precautionary principle in international trade law, European law and national law compares how precautionary considerations have been applied in the fields of pesticide regulation and the regulation of base stations for mobile telephones in Sweden, the UK and the US. A number of problems in the current application of the precautionary principle are identified and discussed. For example, it is shown that a firm reliance on a wide and open-ended precautionary principle may lead to problems with the consistency, foreseeability, effectiveness and efficiency of measures intended to reduce environmental or health risks. It is suggested that the precautionary principle indeed may be an important tool, but that in order to be acceptable it must be coupled with strong requirements on the performance of risk assessments, cost/benefit analyses and risk trade-off analyses.

In this Leadership in Principle and Practice, Stanley Maphosa tackle some basic principles of leadership and make them practical with examples from the church and the workplace. This book is for both Christian and secular leaders. From the family set up right up to the head of state, leadership has the "make or break" abilities. The bible speaks about the importance of self and family leadership before one attempt to lead the church of God. This basic requirement for leaders has been ignored and we have people who cannot lead themselves and lead or support their families fumbling to take charge of organisations or nations. These are some of the principles and practices of leadership that we have let go and they have put us where we are today-a place where there is a leadership vacuum in many circles. This book has twelve chapters that include an overview of leadership; self-leadership-leading yourself before others and taking charge of your life; the leader and corruption; mentorship and coaching in leadership; responsible leadership; when leaders lead; tests of leadership; leadership pitfalls, the isolated leader and some truths to understand when leading. The foreword in this book was written by Pastor Jeqe Ngwenya of Higher Dimension School of Life and Leadership.

Federalism has generally been characterized as a system of government that is friendly to liberty. It is not obvious, though, why this should be so. Federalism is a form of government where citizens simultaneously reside in at least two governments, each of which has independent authority to tax and to regulate. By contrast, in a unitary form of government citizens face only one government with independent authority to tax and regulate. At first glance, it would seem a bit strange to claim that liberty is more secure when citizens are members of two governments with independent authority than when they are members of only one such government. The relationship between federalism and liberty turns out to be a complex one, and one that is capable of working in either direction. Whether federalism supports or erodes liberty depends on importantly on the institutional framework within which federalist governance takes place. The essays in Federalist Government in Principle and Practice examine this institutionalist theme from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
