Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich BWL - Unternehmensfuhrung, Management, Organisation, Note: 1,7, FOM Hochschule fur Oekonomie & Management gemeinnutzige GmbH, Berlin fruher Fachhochschule (International Management), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Russia's unique, very dynamic and complex business environment has not only caused great business prospects but also some difficult, painful upheaval. Therefore many Western entrepreneurs still associate risk rather than opportunity with Russia. But nevertheless, Russia still remains the world's largest country in terms of territory spanning nine time zones with a population of over 140 million people. Such massive changes as the liberalization and rapid growth of the Russian economy, its substantial growth in purchasing power and a relative lack of competition in some sectors make that challenging environment an attractive destination for foreign investment - especially for the German. Since 1997 Germany remains Russia's most important trade partner worldwide. Russia's exports to Germany went up to 30 Billion Euros in 2006 and 28.8 in 2007. But for the German companies Russian market is not less important - in 2007 the exports to Russia have had an impressing value of 28.2 Billion Euros which has increased to 20.6% from the year before. It must be noted however, that Russia's traditional exchange of goods with its Western partners mainly sustains of the export of its raw materials (energy) and the import of manufactured goods. Anyway, the close link and the growing dependency of both countries over the years become more and more evident. And both trade partners are considered as quite compatible as it can shortly be described by: "The German Market can deliver whatever the Russian Market desires." But these business engagement opportunities now appear in an environment significantly different from the German investor's habitual home culture - and culture is a crucial factor of human resource management."

'Global HR practices are of incredible interest to scholars and practitioners. Brewster and Mayrhofer have done a masterful job selecting and organizing 26 incredible chapters on how to conceive, study, and practice HRM in diverse global settings. The compendium is thoughtful and thorough with integrated theoretical perspectives and unique insights on each major global region. It is an invaluable source book for those interested in global HR.' – Dave Ulrich, University of Michigan, US 'As the world becomes "flatter" and more interconnected, questions arise about the future of HRM. Which HRM systems are beginning or will begin to converge globally? Which systems will likely remain constrained by institutions or national culture and why? This book brings together the leading academic authorities and provides the essential starting point to answering these pressing questions.' – Patrick Wright, Cornell University, US This unique and path-breaking Handbook explores the issue of comparative Human Resource Management (HRM) and challenges the notion that there can be a 'one best way' to manage HRM. The Handbook of Research on Comparative Human Resource Management provides a theoretical, practical and regional analysis of comparative HRM. This book, edited by two specialists on comparative HRM and written by leading experts on each topic and from each region, explores the range of different approaches to conceptualising HRM, and highlights HRM policy and practice that occur in the various regions of the world. As such, the volume provides a challenge to the typical assumption that there are consistent problems in managing human resources around the globe that call for standardised solutions. Instead, the contributors emphasise the importance of institutional and cultural factors that make HRM a most context-sensitive management task. Offering a comprehensive view for readers with different interests, this insightful Handbook will prove to be an essential resource for academics, researchers and postgraduate students in international business, business administration, HRM, socio-economics and cross-cultural management. Practitioners interested in the cultural aspects of HRM will also find this Handbook invaluable.

Employee participation encompasses the range of mechanisms used to involve the workforce in decisions at all levels of the organization - whether direct or indirect - conducted with employees or through their representatives. In its various guises, the topic of employee participation has been a recurring theme in industrial relations and human resource management. One of the problems in trying to develop any analysis of participation is that there is potentially limited overlap between these different disciplinary traditions, and scholars from diverse traditions may know relatively little of the research that has been done elsewhere. Accordingly in this book, a number of the more significant disciplinary areas are analysed in greater depth in order to ensure that readers gain a better appreciation of what participation means from these quite different contextual perspectives. Not only is there a range of different traditions contributing to the research and literature on the subject, there is also an extremely diverse sets of practices that congregate under the banner of participation. The handbook discusses various arguments and schools of thought about employee participation, analyzes the range of forms that participation can take in practice, and examines the way in which it meets objectives that are set for it, either by employers, trade unions, individual workers, or, indeed, the state. In doing so, the Handbook brings together leading scholars from around the world who present and discuss fundamental theories and approaches to participation in organization as well as their connection to broader political forces. These selections address the changing contexts of employee participation, different cultural/ institutional models, old/'new' economy models, shifting social and political patterns, and the correspondence between industrial and political democracy and participation.

The innovative, multi-disciplinary approach of the book provides a holistic picture of the key issues on the individual, organizational and societal levels. The book is divided into three parts: Part I explores the institutional and economic contexts that organizations face in different European countries. This section goes beyond exploring issues of diversity to include a discussion of the impact of the recent financial crisis. Part II concentrates on the key challenges and trends facing HR, including an aging population, migration, and sustainability, and analyzes the unique and inventive ways these are addressed in different countries across Europe. Part III focuses on the fundamental HR areas – recruitment and selection, performance management and rewards, employment relations, global careers, and so forth – and the ways in which these policies and practices are shaped by the European Union. With broader coverage, the latest thinking in the field, and cutting-edge cases, examples and insights, this book will prove a highly valuable resource for students, researchers and practitioners working in human resource management, and international business.

The Issues, Conclusions, and Recommendations of the NATO Advanced Research Workshop - Budapest, Hungary July 27 -31, 1997 TIlOMAS NAFF University of Pennsylvania 847 Williams Hall Philadelphia, PA 19104-6305 USA tna. /J"@sas. upenn. edu 1. The Issues Sharing data and infonnation enables people to think together in solving problems, in building trust essential for cooperative efforts toward sustaining shared vital natural resources, and in avoiding conflict. It is axiomatic that all planning and policy making, not least for environmental and resource sustainability, depend for success on accmate data and infonnation dispensed freely to all who need it, from farmers to heads of state. These maxims are particularly apt when applied to water resources that are international and transboundary. In those circumstances, the need for cooperation and sharing are acute if the water source is to be managed, distributed, and used equitably and efficiently. In many parts of the world, the collection, management, reporting, and quality of water and environmental data are often so poor and incomplete as to render them useless, or they are treated as security issues and are therefore classified. Either way, wherever those conditions exist, essential planning and policy data and information of good quality are relatively hard to come by. The consequences are high, particularly for effective basin-wide river management and resource sustainability.
